Quality Assurance

The Paul C. Rizzo Associates, Inc. (RIZZO) Quality Assurance (QA) Program, established in 1985, has expanded over the years to meet new requirements, address new concepts, and respond to changing industry needs.  Employees at RIZZO are committed to meeting client and regulatory requirements and to providing our professional services in a high quality manner.  RIZZO’s robust QA Program supports a corporate culture dedicated to safety and continuous improvement.

QA procedures are applied to RIZZO work across all markets in which the company operates.  We have worked to install a culture where quality is the responsibility of every employee at RIZZO from project staff to top management.  The RIZZO QA Program currently meets the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME NQA-1-2008 and NQA-1a-2009 Addenda, and “Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications.”  This Standard meets and clarifies the requirements of Title 1 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50 (10 CFR 50), Appendix B, “Quality Assurance Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants and Fuel Reprocessing Plants” dated January 20, 1975.  The Standard was selected as the basis for our QA Program because it establishes quality assurance standards for activities ranging from data acquisition through design to records administration. Particular emphasis is placed on documentation and verification procedures for field operations, and for analysis and calculations, which result in traceability and transparency.  As part of the continuous improvement efforts of our current QA Program, RIZZO is pursuing certification under ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 throughout the company.

For the nuclear industry, RIZZO is proud to be an approved supplier to provide nuclear safety-related analysis and design services to AREVA, Westinghouse, MHI, Sargent & Lundy, PBMR, and several utilities, including Ameren Missouri, UniStar Nuclear Energy, and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) in the United Arab Emirates.  RIZZO has been approved by these organizations based on the results of audits which have verified the effective implementation of our QA Program.

Environmental

RIZZO is committed to conducting business operations in an environmentally responsible manner.  RIZZO operates under an Environmental Policy supported by the ISO 14001:2004 Program that communicates the organization’s commitment to continual improvement, compliance with applicable legal requirements and regulations, and the prevention of pollution.  Environmental management is integrated into the business operations at RIZZO to support the achievement of the environmental and economic goals of the company and its stakeholders.

Health & Safety

RIZZO recognizes its responsibility to protect the lives and health of its employees, safeguard plants and equipment, avoid adverse effects on the environment, and satisfy prevailing legislation.  A policy has therefore been applied to all RIZZO activities both within workshops and while working at client sites, and states objectives which, when met, will prevent or reduce the risk of a harmful event.

In the areas of health and safety at both the corporate and field levels, RIZZO has a commitment to the employees to further their knowledge and training skills. A robust plan is in place that integrates company objectives into company operations, including a well-established health and safety management system. To achieve its health and safety goals, RIZZO encourages its employees to enhance their environmental, health, and safety training while employed with the company.
